The challenge
An international eCommerce and wholesale seller needed financial information for investor discussions. Its records sat across several entities, accounting systems and external-accountant schedules, and some balances did not agree.
What we did
Our team identified the inconsistencies and set out the reconciliation work needed. We requested supporting records, examined intercompany balances and prepared an intercompany schedule.
We then delivered consolidated accounts and the schedule. Further entity statements and an updated forecast followed in response to the information requested.
We kept the source-data limitations visible so the reports could be read with the appropriate qualifications.
The result
The requested consolidated information, intercompany schedule and subsequent statements and forecast were delivered. This completed the reporting milestone with the source-data qualifications retained; it did not establish that every underlying group-record issue had been resolved.
The takeaway
When a business operates through several entities, an investor’s request for one financial picture quickly becomes a reconciliation task. Intercompany balances and consistent source records need attention before the figures can be combined usefully.
