The challenge

A seller trading through its own online store and a marketplace wanted useful business visibility from the accounts alongside separate sales dashboards. Accounting feeds and the allocation of advertising costs needed attention.

What we did

Our team connected the business’s bank feed, checked payment-account connections and investigated which advertising costs belonged to each sales channel.

We asked the seller to confirm how campaigns were used, separating activity supporting the direct store from the specific campaigns supporting marketplace sales.

Using that allocation, we delivered a customised contribution profit-and-loss report so channel income and the relevant costs could be reviewed together.

The result

The contribution P&L was delivered, followed by management reports for subsequent months. The completed work established a monthly reporting rhythm and a channel-focused view of trading.

The takeaway

A channel report depends on where costs are allocated. Confirm what each advertising campaign supports before using its cost to assess that channel’s contribution.
